Overview
The Curate lives in a falling apart town at the edge of the sea and tries to cope with his unhappy, sarcastic daughter who is really upset with him because he seems to her always distant and distracted. Then a stranger named Griffin comes to town who seems to know her father from a previous and very different existence. Why is the universe running down like an unwound clock? Because the creator God, the great playwright of the universe, horrified by the suffering inherent in his creation, has stopped creating and hidden himself in an obscure backwater of his creation. And when this happens, what can the great destroyer, Satan, do, but go and look for him, to persuade him to resume making things to destroy? Nigro's very first play, and in many ways an introduction to the major themes of all his subsequent work.
