Punch and Judy

Punch and Judy

Overview

In what is arguably Nigro's darkest, and certainly one of his weirdest and funniest plays, the old strange puppet show comes to life as a grotesque and sardonic tale of the brutal Mr Punch, his unfortunate wife Judy, the sad end of the squalling baby, the dark, Satanic crocodile, the pathetic and dim-witted clown Joey, and the hangman Jack Ketch. This play lives on the extreme edge where wild, dark, hysterical farce meets tragedy. It's one of the oddest things Nigro has ever written, and its dark, dark humor is matched by an unusual combination of horror and pathos. This is really one of a kind.
