William McCleery
This witty and provocative comedy was produced in New York at the Biltmore I Theatre. Charles Burnett is a militantly liberal college professor who wants to be president of the university. He spurns offers of $20,000 and up as managing editor of a newspaper to teach journalism. His wife stages his campaign. The office of president is a political appointment, and the governor wants to use it to win votes in the impending election. To better his chances for the big college job, the professor is called upon to expel a student, in love with his daughter, for writing a daring editorial for the campus paper. He refuses, and through a chain of events becomes a strong man, a fighting , man, a champion of liberalism in politics.
