Overview

A warm-hearted and senstive comedy about a father who is so busy earning money for his family that he neglects them, and his 16 year old daughter who decides to do something about it - with calamitous results. Father is a newspaper man who works hard hours. Daughter Alice believes he stays at the office because he hates coming home to "a household of women." So she keeps the house overflowing, with young men. Alice's beaux learn that she is going to the Ball with "an older man," and jump to the conclusion that he means a businessman who has come to talk terms with her father on a big promotion. The boys discover the visitor is married, and chivalrously gather to throw him in the lake and teach him a lesson. Through a perfectly understandable error, Father gets dunked instead. Afterwards, Father matches wits with Alice in a very deft scene, and comes out much the wiser. He stands up firmly to the bulldozing visitor (he with the bellowing cow horn on his car), and achieves both his promotion and pleasant family harmony.
