A hilarious and zany romp about the not-so-smart set of the New York theatre world, NATURE'S WAY was greeted as an astonishing change of pace by Herman Wouk, author of such serious dramas as THE CAINE MUTINY COURT-MARTIAL and THE TRAITOR and the world famous novels MARJORIE MORNINGSTAR and THE CAINE MUTINY. The New York Times reported that "the audience laughed its head off"; The Philadelphia Bulletin, that "the audience was helpless with hysterical laughter"; and this has been the reaction wherever it has played. Billy Turk, a successful songwriter, of twenty-four, lives with his wife Maggie in a glittering penthouse on Park Avenue. Married five months, with a baby on the way, this young couple apparently is sitting on top of the world. It soon develops, however, that government presents a tremendous tax bill. Billy's mother-in-law arrives from Arizona. Voles, a decadent and villainous playwright, seeks to break up the marriage. He drags Billy off to Europe and involves him with a princess. The action is complicated by a decorator, a fiendish income tax expert, a faddish doctor, and a silly television magnate, among others. But the Turks come out of all their difficulties together, with their baby. Voles is foiled, and Mama even gets herself a husband.
