Overview
Told in a reader's theatre format, this clever play runs the gamut of emotions over several years while we follow the lives in the Landy family. We are privy to their tradition of trading "Christmas Letters;" those photocopied informational letters which keep the members of the family generally updated. But this is no ordinary family. A wealthy woman who enjoys her toys loses everything and must rediscover her role in life. A faithful nun loses her religion but finds happiness with her female roommate. A young drifter determined to make his mark in showbiz must first stop sponging off his relatives. Each clan member becomes involved with his/her own life while in the meantime, the family drifts further and further apart. All the while, the eldest Landy, Molly, gripes, "These letters are such a bother. Why can't we all just get together?" A beautiful Christmas message is skillfully written between the lines.
