Overview

Douglas Fidgit, Broadway producer, is seeking an actress for a one-line part. Actresses storm his office. They range from a fading First Lady of the Theatre to a forlorn little person who speaks a strange language. They give their own interpretations of the four little words, "Your taxicab is waiting," leaving Mr. Fidgit on the verge of hysteria. Then, in march the Bapps - Oriole, child prodigy who plays sixteenth century airs on tin cans, carves in soap and does imitations of whales; Verna, her adoring mother; and Gladwyn, her suffering father. In a wonderfully hilarious scene, Mr. Fidgit disposes of all these loonies and marches out with the forlorn actress who speaks a very odd language.
