Overview

Dramatization of the life of the Jewish-born German philosopher who converted to Catholicism and became a nun before dying in the Auschwitz gas chambers of 1942. The play transports us to the Central Europe of that year, and other times and places, before and since, both real and imaginary.
Stein lived a dedicated, selfless existence, loving God in devoted observance, and feared no man. Her convivial personality never wavered, even at the end of her life.

This is a topical, respectful homage to a luminous woman who shined so brightly in history's darkest period. Pope John Paul II officially approved Edith Stein for canonization in May, 1997.
