Overview

"Clues are like neckties," says detective Tony Cheek. "One should be enough, but you get too many and you find you're sticking your neck out too far." And too many clues is exactly what he has at the Granville Diamond estate as he and his dim-witted partner, Squatty, try to determine who murdered Granville Diamond. Was it the blind brother, who seems to see better than Tony? Could it be the pompous brother-in-law, who talks as if he swallowed a thesaurus? Maybe it's Miss Thatcher, the stiff, efficient housekeeper who had her last laugh about twenty years ago. The only consolation Tony has is that the butler couldn't have done it, because there isn't a butler! Every detective movie cliche is trotted out and roundly lambasted by this frantic and hilarious who-dun-it. A small cast, a simple set, and a positive avalanche of clues, some real, some not. As Tony says, "Now all we need is Moses to come in here and part the red herrings."
