Jack Kurtz
A collection of three short, humorous, Readers' Theatre scripts for Christmas, originally presented as children's sermons. Although they are stories with themes that interest children, each story has some dimensions that the children probably won't notice but the adults will. (In a few places the adults will laugh a great deal louder than their offspring!) Each play can be performed elaborately, or can be easily staged in a church chancel with one or two rehearsals.
Christmas and the Gargoyle Who Wouldn't Say Thank You - A boy's gift to a mean-spirited old man brings about new awareness of the Christmas spirit.
Timmy and the Pitiful Pink Plastic Ball - Timmy befriends a girl whose mother is on welfare and learns what it is to give of yourself at Christmas.
Susie and the Christmas Soup - When Susie decides to save some money and eat at a rescue mission, she learns of the Christmas story from the derelicts there.
